Highlights and places of interest along the route:

Starting from the Bishop`s town, the first part of the tour leads through the Pustertal, also called the green valley of South Tyrol. The cycle path follows the course of the rivers Rienz and Drau through Eastern Tyrol and further to the lake district Carinthia. En route different crystal-clear swimming lakes invite to a jump in the refreshing wet. Soon you leave Austria behind and pass the border to Slovenia. It is the first country in the world to be declared a green destination based on the Green Destinations Criteria. The variety of landscapes surprises. At the magical lake Bled you can enjoy the panorama over the Julian Alps.
The aim of the trip is Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia. Its social and environmental awareness has a long tradition which you will feel with every step, and it`s no coincidence that the city was named the European Green Capital of 2016. In the last years it has become one of the most popular city destinations of Europe.

Characteristics of the route:

Easy bike tour. The tour goes along bike paths or very quiet side roads, through small villages and picturesque landscape. Most of the time the paths are asphalted otherwise you cycle on gravelled roads. The long incline from Bressanone to Sciaves (about 5 km) at the beginning of the tour can be bypassed by train. The last part from Bled to Ljubljana is slight hilly.
The tour is suitable for children from the age of 16.
